Intervention Strategies on Rehabilitation

Physical therapy intervention is associated with improvements in the physical function and health related quality of life. Physical therapists provide several interventions to optimize the physical function and quality of life which may be otherwise compromised by the factors like aging, trauma, chronic diseases, or the environment. The action research study employed a multi-modal intervention with three athletes rehabilitating from the injury. The efficacy of the numerous intervention strategies emerged, including social support, goal setting, imagery, simulation training, and verbal persuasion. Emotional support was recognized by the athletes as important when rehabilitation progress was slow, setbacks were experienced, or other life demands placed additional pressures on participants.
